As I prepared for my trip to Europe, you KNOW I spent hours reading blogs, searching Trip Advisors, and questioning all my friends that had been to cities I was visiting. The amount of places I bookmarked compared to how many I went? Probably about 300:3. There were two bars, however, that I told myself I WOULD go to, and DID go to; the AnonymouS Bar being one of them.

After a couple of my personal friends spoke so highly of this bar and its’ uniqueness, I knew I had to go. If you look up the AnonymouS Bar (located in Prague, Czech Republic), you are certain to be intrigued…. Masked bar tenders? Yes. I had actually never seen or heard of the movie, “V for Vendetta”, but I quickly learned. According to their website,

“Opened 05.11.2012 as the first part of the AnonymouS Concept and together with the Crosroads (AnonymouS Coffee) creates the perfect „Hideout of the Legion“ With the interior inspired by the V for Vendettas hideout of V it will surely make you feel safe.

The Bar is a creation of dreams, ideals and ideas of every single person working in it.

We are Legion, each of us is equally significant.”

The menu and drinks are just as unique as the bar itself. In fact, there isn’t even just one menu. There are two “secret menus,” which left me even more in love with this concept. The first secret menu requires a little light that you can retrieve from your server. Shine it on the regular menu, and it exposes several additional drinks that can be ordered. Want to have even more fun? Ask for the perfumes…. A box of five little trinkets will be delivered to your table. Smell each one, then pick your poison based on the scent. Or, if you are a coward like me, you can check the additional menu that will tell you which scents match each perfume, and what the drink will contain.

Despite wanting to try everything, my colleague and I settled on three drinks, which were all amazing. The bartenders are phenomenal, and more than willing to create any concoction you can think up. Our most note-worthy drink was the one they actually created for me: an Absinthe Pina Colada. It sounds, well, probably disgusting to most, but it was actually incredible, and was a great way to drink Absinthe without suffering from the awful taste. (If you don’t know, absinthe is a highly-alcoholic liquor, not found in the USA, that ends in a very fun night…;) )

This is definitely a speakeasy (yes, it is a bit hard to find) for anyone looking for an experience. Most of the drinks come with a “show.” It is very obvious that every person working there loves their job- and are amazing at it. If you’re going to be in Prague, this is a MUST-Visit.

PS- Rumor has it they have another bar called “the Shrink’s Office…”
